Job Description
Design Human Factors is a discipline within the Apple Design Team that is responsible for the quality of human experience in products that are used by billions of people. At its best, the team creatively represents and advocates for the diverse human population with physical, cognitive, and behavioral research throughout the product development cycle.
Each member brings unique expertise, background, and perspective to bear on pressing problems impacting the quality of Apple products’ human experience. This is an interdisciplinary team trained in psychology, biomechanics, engineering, ergonomics, systems design, ethnography, among others. The combination of diverse experience, perspectives, and expertise combine to create the strength of this team.
The Design Human Factors team works hand in hand with Industrial Design (ID) and Human Interface (HI) designers spanning both hardware and software, influencing key design and engineering decisions at all levels of the company, to ensure the best possible holistic human experience. All the while working cross-functionally with teams across Apple to help bridge design needs, human factors considerations, and engineering constraints.
This team is unique. Their work requires fluency across disciplines and considers individual and cultural differences among the people who use our products and the ways that they use them.
