POSITION SUMMARY This position will develop, oversee and support the community engagement and education activities of the Tulsa SPCA. In that role this person will serve as a liaison to school districts, program clients, volunteers and the community in general. Activities will include, coordination of onsite and offsite programming (including tours), event scheduling and any future program development. In addition, this position will promote a positive work environment that supports constructive working relationships between departments/staff.
This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.

Organizational Results expected include: - Providing strategic direction by developing a comprehensive plan to expand volunteer job opportunities, training, numbers, involvement and tracking at the Tulsa SPCA.
- Developing and/or documenting a curriculum to use for education and outreach events.
- Managing the structure, content, staffing and growth of a humane education program.
- Seek out and increase the number of speaking and/or public outreach opportunities.
- Supervise the Shelter Assistant, including establishing program goals, expectations and guidelines.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Volunteer and Community Education:
- Evaluate current policies and procedures, revise and implement changes where necessary.
- In addition to responding to requests for our participation, actively seek out appropriate opportunities for Community Outreach events, including MAC, Pets Are Love (PAL) and Humane Education/No More Bullying events.
- Supervise Community Outreach events as staff person in charge and on location.
- Become proficient in Volunteer Software Program – currently GivePulse.
- For the following efforts: coordinate onsite and offsite programming, serve as staff person in charge and on location, ensure activities are scheduled properly using Tulsa SPCA Outlook Calendar and all parties are notified in a timely manner, act as a liaison while onsite:
- Tours
- Humane Education
- PAL program
- Mobile Adoption Center – schedule, organize and maintain the Mobile Adoption Center and work with Animal Connections Manager/Pet Care to select appropriate animal to include for various events
- Oversee the Volunteer and Foster Program
- Provide assistance to the Volunteer Manager for the volunteer and foster program
- Oversee changes in policies and procedures related to volunteer and foster functions
- Supervise the Volunteer Manager and act as a liaison between all staff with regard to Volunteer and Community Outreach Programs and their involvement with other Tulsa SPCA departments.
- Conduct meetings as necessary with relevant staff to address issues, needs or concerns.
- Evaluate direct reports (paid and unpaid).
- Promote positive, collaborative relationships between all constituents (staff, board, volunteers, other agencies and the public).
- Develop and implement new programs.
- Coordinate with other departments on completion and placement when necessary.
- Ensure program design and implementation addresses program (and organizational) goals, objectives and outcome measurement.
- Evaluate and report on program performance.
- Stay current on trends in Volunteer Management and Humane Education, including technology, best practices and innovations in the Animal Welfare field.

- Assist in event needs, such as set-up-, tear down, and oversight. Required to work some events.
- Fulfill needs during events: check in, leadership/direction, and problem solving
- Develop and submit budget request for assigned program areas.

- Teach/present programs as needed.
- Serve as a member of the Tulsa SPCA management team
- Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education/Experience - 4 year college degree required.
- Excellent computer skills - including a knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) required.
- Knowledge of GivePulse and Shelterluv would be an advantage.
- Experience working with databases is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required.
- Experience managing staff required.
- Two years working in an office setting, preferably with past scheduling experience.
- Good customer service skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to track data.
- Strong time management skills required.
- Must be able to be highly productive without constant supervision.
- Knowledge of dog and cat behavior would be an advantage.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
Physical Environment - Work primarily in office setting.
- Travel to area events/locations in year-round weather conditions.
- Use of computer, keyboard, telephone, copy machines, and fax machines.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne materials.
- Noise level is moderate to high.
- May be working with and exposed to a variety of animals and animal waste.
- Possibility of being bitten or scratched by animals.
SCHEDULE FT position. Schedule can vary, shift changes will be necessary sometimes. Saturdays are required and will include some evenings, holidays and occasional Sundays.
