Under direction of the Education Research and Evaluation Administrator I of the English Language Arts and Mathematics Office, the Education Programs Consultant independently and collaboratively performs complex tasks that support California’s statewide student assessment system. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Monitor the development, administration, scoring, and reporting of assessments within the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).
• Represent the California Department of Education (CDE) working collaboratively with internal and external staff to oversee contract activities, critically evaluating and providing feedback on deliverables, and making recommendations for improvement.
• Provide oversight and collaboration with program offices within the Assessment Development and Administration Division for the provision of a wide array of training, outreach, and professional development services to local educational agencies to ensure the full and successful implementation of the California statewide assessment system.
• Work independently and collaboratively with contractors, and CDE staff to develop, review, and provide feedback on program resources for a variety of audiences.
• Provide general and specialized program assistance to, and respond to, requests for information from a variety of interest holders and audiences such as local, state, and federal educational agency staff, parents, students, legislators, and members of the media.
• Write State Board of Education information memorandums and meeting items, analyze legislation, develop, and review policies and regulations, develop and implement Requests for Proposals and coordinate the proposal review process, and prepare Budget Change Proposals.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.
