Under the direction of the Supervising Mineral Resources Engineer, the Associate Mineral Resource Engineer independently performs difficult and detailed geologic and engineering work related to mineral, petroleum, and geothermal operations and permitting. Conducts analysis and prepares technical and complex reports and recommendations regarding advanced economic, engineering, geologic, facility, and operational aspects of state resource leases. This position is required to have a valid CA driver’s license and drive a vehicle on official State business.

-Some of the engineering review and surveillance is conducted in the field including but not limited to offshore platforms, remote onshore natural gas locations, geothermal regions of the state, and onshore coastal sites.

-Willingness to travel by vehicle, ocean vessel, or helicopter to access different facilities or drilling sites.
-Operate a personal or State vehicle to travel on official State business; must have a valid California driver’s license.
-Must be able to pass Swing Rope test and be Swing Rope certified.
This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the State Lands Commission policy and/or future program need. -Advanced knowledge of principles, methods, equipment, and terminology of petroleum engineering and geology, oil and gas production, and pipeline operations and facilities.
-Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
-Ability to analyze engineering and operations data and develop conclusions and recommendations.
-Knowledge and understanding of geothermal and solid mineral exploration/development.
-Knowledge and understanding of federal and state mineral law and finance.
-Registration as a professional Engineer preferred.
