SITE OF SERVICE :
· Naval Health Clinic Oak Harbor, WA
· Full Time
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
· Degree: Associates Degree of Nursing
· Education:
o Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
OR
o Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
· Experience : Possess a minimum of 1 year experience within the last 3 years working as Registered Nurse.
· Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
· Other Certifications: BLS through American Heart Association. Must be hands on course.
· U.S. Citizenship: HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens.
· English language Requirement: Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
· HCW Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
· Recognize emergencies and respond with appropriate protocol, e.g. resuscitation, oxygen, emergency drugs, cardiac massage, application of medical equipment and other, as established by the medical staff.
· Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.
· Assist in defining the patient population requiring professional nursing intervention and establishing guidelines to evaluate patients.
· Work directly with selected patients and families to develop a nursing care plan. Collaborate with other health care disciplines to provide total quality patient care.
· Function as care coordinator to assure all aspects of patient care needs are met, to include assessment, intervention, and follow-up.
· Requisition and arrange for ordered diagnostic and therapeutic services as directed.
· Administer immunizations, allergy treatments, oral, parenteral, and IV medications.
· Administer specific medications at designated times and in designated manner.
· Observe patients and report pertinent data on condition and medication or treatments.
· Demonstrate proficiency according to operating manuals when using patient care electrical equipment.
· Maintain required clinic records, patient charts, forms, logs, records, registers, census reports and collect required statistics.
· Manage subpopulations such as hypertensive, diabetics, OB, etc.
· Perform ambulatory care nursing functions as they pertain to patient counseling and patient administration.
· Carry out patient referral management to specialty care; consult management and medical record management.
· Provide training in wound care, intravenous placement and dressing changes.
· Provide asthma education, diabetes education, and obstetric intake.
HOURS:
· Services shall be provided Monday through Friday between the hours of 0730 and 1630 (Can be Subject to change on contract requirement)
· Shifts will normally be scheduled for an 8.5, 9 hour or 12 hour period.
· HCWs providing up to 10.5 hours of service are entitled to a 30 minute meal break and HCWs providing 12 hours of services are entitled to a 60 minute meal break.
· At the mutual agreement of the Contactor and the Government, alternative schedules may be implemented such as a compressed work schedule.
· In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services in excess of 80 hours per two-week period.
· Specific days, hours, and shift length will be scheduled by the designated government representative.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
