Structural Steel Detailer
Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Metal Detailer to join our team. The Detailer will be responsible for interpreting drawings, creating detailed fabrication drawings, and generating erection plans for structural steel fabrication and various misc metal packages - including but not limited to; stairs, railing, monumental stairs, switchback stairs, etc
Key Responsibilities:
* Review architectural and structural drawings, including blueprints and 3D models, to understand project requirements and specifications.
* Convert drawings into detailed 2D fabrication drawings for shop workers, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams to clarify design intent and address any discrepancies or conflicts.
* Generate erection plans and assembly instructions for onsite installation, collaborating with the sister company responsible for erecting and installing metal structures.
* Utilize CAD software, such as SDS2 or other compatible software tools, to create fabrication and erection drawings.
* Perform field measuring as needed, ensuring accurate dimensions and alignment for fabrication and installation.
* Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners to coordinate project requirements and resolve any issues or challenges.
* Maintain organized documentation and version control for all drawings and project files.
Qualifications:
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings, including blueprints and 3D models.
* Experience in creating detailed fabrication drawings and erection plans for custom metal fabrication projects.
* Proficiency with AutoCAD software, SDS2 experience is required
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy in creating fabrication drawings and erection plans.
* Effective communication skills for collaborating with project teams and external partners.
* Willingness to learn and adapt to new software tools and technologies.
* Ability to perform field measuring is desirable, and candidates with this capability may receive higher compensation.
