Job: Technical Writer Location: Greensboro, NC Pay: $24/hr. Zip Code: 27409 Keywords: #TechnicalWriting #NCjobs #manuals #aerospace A Technical Writer job in Greensboro, NC, is currently accepting applications. This is a contract (to possible hire) position with our key aerospace client. In this role, you will prepare customer manuals and supplements, internal manuals and supplements, and other technical documentation in accordance with FAA, customer, and standards of quality. Responsibilities:

1. Research and review engineering drawings, engineering orders, and related technical data defining aircraft modification and assembly/subassembly/component specifications, determine the effect on customer technical publications, and use the materials to produce accurate, high quality customer technical publications.
2. Produce in-house technical publications such as manuals, forms, standard operating procedures, and the wiki.
3. Provide support to other internal departments regarding in-house forms, guides, intranet sites, and manuals.
4. Provide support to other internal departments regarding technical publications.
5. Interface and coordinate in a professional manner with other departments, internal customers, to ensure customer, regulatory, and requirements are met and to promote and support organizational business interests.
6. Assist with continuous improvement of Technical Publications department, including procedures, quality control, workflow, and tools.
7. Display self-leadership - volunteer for training on unfamiliar assignments.
8. Contribute to multiple technical publication types among CMMs, ICAs, and In-house documentation.
9. Work on complex documentation tasks with assistance.
10. Demonstrate familiarity with illustration requirements.
11. Demonstrate familiarity with structured FrameMaker (FM).
12. Develop expertise in technical documentation methods and procedures used
13. Develop a strong understanding of policies and procedures.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

1. Associates degree or equivalent work experience.
2. Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Windows environment, Internet browser, Email.
3. Ability to read and comprehend written engineering, engineering drawings, and other technical data.
4. Must possess good interpersonal skills with strong desire to work in a team.
5. Must have good attention to detail.
6. Must have good oral, written, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
7. Must be fluent in English - read, write, speak, and understand.
8. Knowledge of technical writing concepts, practices, and procedures.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

1. Previous technical writing experience documenting modifications to transport category aircraft and/or manufacture of transport category aircraft assemblies, subassemblies, and/or components.
2. Familiarity with aircraft technical manuals such as Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), Wiring Diagram Manual (WDM), Component Maintenance Manual (CMM), etc. and the ATA iSpec 2200 format.
3. Basic knowledge of FAA regulations, specifications, and related requirements.
4. Knowledge of Simplified Technical English.
5. Knowledge of technical writing concepts, practices, and procedures.
6. Aircraft-related technical illustration experience.
7. Must be available for overtime and/or to work a flexible schedule, as job requirements dictate.
8. Computer skills: FrameMaker, Content Management System, Acrobat Pro, Azure DevOps, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, XML, HTML.
