Job Description
ROLE We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Traffic Control Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating traffic management operations at the project site to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow. As a Traffic Control Coordinator, you will liaise with subcontractors, coordinate schedules, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and traffic management plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Coordination with Subcontractors:
- Primary point of contact between the organization and subcontractors for traffic management activities.
- Schedule and coordinate subcontractor traffic management services to align with project timelines and operational needs.
- Ensure subcontractors adhere to traffic management plans and safety regulations.
- Traffic Control Implementation : Inspect traffic control measures in accordance with site-specific TCPs and applicable regulations. Ensure all necessary equipment and signage are correctly set up and maintained.
- Traffic Management : Monitor and inspect traffic flow around construction sites, making adjustments as needed to maintain safety and minimize disruptions.
- Compliance and Documentation : Ensure adherence to WorkSafeBC’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, particularly Part 18. Document daily traffic control activities and report any issues or deviations to the Traffic Control Manager
- Safety : Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure traffic management practices meet safety and regulatory requirements.
- Project Coordination : Work with project management at the site level to ensure project traffic requirements are met.
Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Qualifications - Valid and current Traffic Control Person (TCP) ticket in British Columbia.
- ATSSA certification is beneficial, but not required.
Experience - Previous experience in a traffic control role, with a solid understanding of traffic control procedures and regulations.
- Knowledge of Federal, Provincial, and Municipal Traffic regulations.
- Familiarity with WorkSafeBC regulations pertaining to traffic control.
- Experience with a variety of traffic control measures, including lane closures and road management.
Skills and Knowledge - Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to effectively interpret and follow traffic control plans and regulations.
- Proficiency in handling traffic control equipment and tools.
- Capability to work independently while ensuring coordination with other team members and departments.
WORKING CONDITIONS The Traffic Control Coordinator will be assigned to the Eagle Mountain Project, in Squamish, BC. The role involves a work schedule of Monday to Saturday, with 12-hour shifts. Accommodations or an allowance for accommodations will be provided for those located more than 80 km from the project site.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The Traffic Control Coordinator reports to the Construction Coordinator. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities, but will work closely with Sub-contractors, Project Management, and Traffic Control Personnel to support the implementation of traffic control measures.
Expected Compensation Range of $35.00 – $55.00 per hour
