Key Responsibilities

  • Process Improvement: Examine equipment, processes, operations, and procedures to identify improvement opportunities in safety, quality, throughput, and cost.
  • Standards Implementation: Implement changes and modify operation standards.
  • Vendor Evaluation: Evaluate vendor proposals for new equipment purchases.
  • Manufacturing Processes: Select and implement suitable manufacturing processes to produce competitive cost products.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and optimize current and new manufacturing processes.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Work closely with production and maintenance to ensure equipment operates in a like-new condition.
  • Capability Studies: Conduct Capability Studies and perform Time Studies.
  • Process Development: Develop visual work instructions and support production and process troubleshooting.
  • Cost Reduction: Focus on reducing costs related to scrap, rework, cycle time, etc.
  • Tool Specification: Specify tools, jigs, and fixtures required for production.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate projects and handle daily troubleshooting.
  • Kaizen Participation: Actively participate in Kaizen events to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Education: BS in Material Science, Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or combined related experience.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of engineering project experience in metal manufacturing.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Lean manufacturing techniques, capability studies, process mapping, FMEA, and root cause analysis.
  • Project Leadership: Capable of taking a project lead role and comfortable in a fast-moving continuous improvement culture.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks with aggressive deadlines.
  • Detail-Oriented: Must be detail-oriented and able to understand complex process interactions.
  • Computer Skills: Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office. Experience with Creo & AutoCAD is a strong plus.
